Lent Event is UnitingWorld’s call to individuals and churches to be personally changed by God’s work in the world, by meeting people across the Pacific, Asia and Africa who are building peace, creating justice, offering hope and bringing new life.
Since 2009, Lent Event has raised over 3 million dollars for people living in Zimbabwe, India, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, South Sudan, Fiji and many others through long-term partnerships with the Uniting Church in Australia. Together we train Christian leaders for the growing global church, create peacebuilding programs, offer clean water and sanitation, and provide education.
In 2019, our focus is on the desperate need to save lives through health education, prevent violence against children and raise up leaders. Alongside our partner church in Timor Leste, Southeast Asia’s poorest nation, we’ll continue Lent Event’s strong tradition of bringing people together to work for real change.
Take the pledge to give up items you can live without for forty days and donate what you save to life changing projects.
Take courage from people in Timor Leste and Australia. Download videos, theological reflections, prayers and more.
Access to clean water, health education, leadership training and child protection is saving lives!
